Indian Rojak Food Poisoning - Home Remedies(Read to save your life!)

There has been a big commotion going on about the food poisoning incidents over at the Geylang Serai Temporary Market.

Those who don't know about it, where have you been all this while?!
Mars??

So far the latest updates of this unfortunate event stated that there were 146 people affected by this case of food contamination, of which 48 of them were hospitalised and 2 have even lost their lives.

Well, technically speaking it was more than two lives compromised with this fatal accident. A two-month pregnant lady, miscarriaged shortly after eating the rojak, so that makes three.

Our deepest, deepest condolences to especially the family of the deceased victims.

Did some read up on some of the home remedies for the scary *diarrhea bug(that could turn out fatal!) and decided to share some of the common ones with everyone here:

1) Rice Water
It is apparently one of the most useful remedy for the treatment of diarrhea. Boil some(alil) water and add approximately 30g of rice or rice powder, till it becomes a thin liquid. Add a teaspoon of salt and water for taste.

2) Water, Sugar and Salt Solution

It is effective for grown-ups as well as for the little ones.
Grown-ups: 1 litre of water + 1 teaspoon of salt + 8 teaspoons of sugar
Children: 1 litre of water + ¾ teaspoon of salt + 8 teaspoons of sugar

3) Black Tea/Coffee
Drink a cup of strong black tea/coffee. It is effective in controlling diarrhea as it helps replace lost fluids.

4) Carrot Soup
The latter supplies water to combat dehydration and at the same time, checks the growth of harmful intestinal bacteria and curbs puking.

Also, some of the steps you should do everyday!

1) Drink a glass of freshly squeezed lemon juice at least 3-5 times a day. It will help kill off the pathogens that cause diarrhea.

2) Red or white Wine!
Containing polyphenols, it is miraculously an antibacterial agent.

Well, so they say, 6 ounces a day is actually enough. But being Singaporeans, their very well-knowned kiasu and kiasi-ness are showing from the way clubs are being over-populated almost every other day of the week!

Better still,

according to this article, even if you need to release your bowels, the condition of the toilets will be too terrifying anyway! Goodness.

Okay back to business,
share with your friends about the ways to prevent/cure diarrhea and you would be doing them a great, big, humongous favour to relieve them of misery when the occasion arises. Of course, if matters get out of hand, always visit the doctor!
